Seinfeld or Friends?

seinfeldvfriendsYou’ve all heard the debate. Each was the #1 show in its prime. Each was a mainstay on NBC’s Must See TV Thursday lineup, holding down the tradition set forth by The Cosby Show and Cheers. Each went out on top, leaving its loyal viewers wanting more. But which show was better? That’s a debate that rages on today. But there is one thing about the two sitcom giants that remains a clear science – they are a belleweather of a successful relationship. It’s a fact, the best relationships are the ones where the guy and girl are divided. One likes Seinfeld, the other likes Friends.

It’s a widely held belief that when looking for that right person, when looking for your soulmate (if you believe in that sort of thing), you should look for a person that brings out the best in you. Now, all you saps out there can read into that and think ‘the one’ will make you a better person. But all it really means is when you find the person that’s right for you, he/she will be awesome in the areas you suck. Plain and simple.

Here’s the thing: when you’re out clubbing, creeping in bars and loitering on campuses, you’re not looking for yourself in another. You’re looking for the person you wish you were. So if you live for Seinfeld re-runs, you shouldn’t be out there looking for another Costanza wannabe. You need to search the globe for the world’s biggest Friends fan. Trust us. The shows couldn’t be more different, and it will help your relationship in the long run.

So look around. Ask those perfect couples we all know and hate and see which show they prefer. We promise you, this is the one thing they won’t agree on. Oh, and if you’re currently involved with someone that is as pumped as you are because “The One Where Rachel Finds Out” is on tonight, you better start packing up your things. Because eventually, you’re going to grow bored of each other, and you will break up. That’s just the way it is.

Oh, and by the way, which do you prefer? Seinfeld or Friends? We Birds heavily favor the comedic genius of Seinfeld.

    Just look at the name.

If Scott wrote this, I’m not listening. The day I take relationship advice from Scott is the day I watch a full episode of Friends. (that’s never)

Comparing Seinfeld and Friends is like comparing Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill or the Lisa Frank Unicorn to the Lisa Frank Polar Bear – it’s just an argument not worth having and one that will most likely leave you bleeding and covered in sweat.

Seinfeld, (man) hands-down. This sums it up nicely: http://www.cafepress.com/hoganstore.271375847

Charles in Charge! Wait – that’s not an option? Fear not, Scott Baio, I will right this atrocity!

Friends. We should date. Although you are better at crafting words and arguments so I feel like any discussion we had, where I was legitimately right and you were wrong, you would still win because you would talk me in circles until I was so confused that I would concede just to make you stop. So never mind. We should not date.

I might want to find someone who likes Scrubs…
